Nice Lockout on the press. Notice how the elbows are locked out at the top and the ears are in front of the arms.

06/28/2011 CrossFit Sport Series 5k

Here is some good rope climbing technique. This footwork is actually a bit faster than the traditional wrap and lock method most used at our box.  The fastest way is still legless however.

06/10/2011 Happy 1 Year Anniversary

Dumbells locked out overhead. Notice the ear in front of the bicep and the elbows locked out.  Sometimes flexibility will be an issue here.  Always keep a tight core when lifting overhead, with the hips slightly back.

ELi came to us 1 year ago and since then has reached a new level of performance.  We can't think of a time he has showed up without a smile on his face (unless the Miami Heat loose) and ready to go.  He is a pleasure to coach and also pretty good at Jiu-Jitsu.

There are many of you who have a 1 year anniversary with us. We would like to thank you for showing up with your "A" game every single day you come in. More family pics to come.

06/08/2011 Swim Wod

Good knee extension on the Sumos Leo.  Notice the high elbows and knee extention.

CFNMB athletes please rsvp jonas@crossfitnmb.com for the swim wod. We need a final head count so you have a lane and gear.  Please be aware that the swim wods should not be attempted unless you are a conditioned swimmer.  You do not need to be Michael Phelps but having a good foundation is a must. See you at the pool.

06/07/2011 Toes To Bar

Toes to bar (yes both feet touched)

Toes to bar

Modified Toes to bar. Shoulders must come off the ground, try to keep knees straight.

We know how hard these workouts can be, after all we don't let you do it unless we try them first.  Modifications exist to enable you to build up to the Rx movement and strengthen your deficiencies.  All modifications and Rx movements should be executed in their full range of motion. Remember you are here to get better so do not cheat yourself.  Keep up the good work everyone, and keep pushing it!!

06/02/2011 CFNMB Workout Of The Day

CFNMB Post Swim Wod.

CrossFit North Miami Beach had its 1st Swim Wod yesterday.  It was very challenging with the swimming element thrown into the mix in addition to all the arm fatigue from the push ups.  If you are interested in participating in a Swim Wod, check with one of your coaches for times and difficulty. Thanks to everyone who showed up to give an extra little push to the workout.   I'm pretty sure the life guards think we are crazy.

Comments: How often do you get out of your element or comfort zone? Do you like it?

06/01/2011 Old Wives Tale

Great extension on a KB swing.  The Bell should be inverted with full extension at the top.

Ive been dealing with the question of stunted growth in adolescents who are engaged in some sort of weight training or similar activity.  Will all the weight training have an effect on the growth plates of a child who is still developing?   Kids actually injure these areas participating in other activites more than half of the time but its weight training that often gets the bad rap.

-Does weight lifting stunt growth?

Miami Endurance starts 6/1/11 @6am

Swim wod, Victory lanes (1980 N.E. 171st St.) @noon
